Encore draws its members from all the secondary schools in Winchester and from Peter Symonds College as well as attracting members from outside the city.

 

There are approximately 35 - 40 members in the company at any one time, aged 12 years and above and we meet each September, rehearsing every Sunday and some evenings until February.

 

Auditions & performances

On-stage Membership of the company is by audition which takes place over a whole weekend, usually in July. Performances take place during February half term, avoiding clashes with academic work or exams and allowing members to perform in the evenings and recover the following day.


Production team

We are now offering the opportunity to develop off-stage skills for those interested in the more technical aspects of theatre production. If you love the theatre but prefer to shine behind the scenes this is a fantastic opportunity to join our dynamic company as part of the Production Team.  

 

Develop your skills in any of the technical areas including stage management, technicians, set design, costume, lighting and sound working with experienced designers and technicians and by helping to prepare, build and run Encore’s production of Summer Holiday at the Theatre Royal Winchester in February Half Term 2012.  

 

To be part of the team you must be aged 14+ and will be invited to an interview with other potential team members.  You will need to be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment but don’t worry if you don’t have any previous experience.  Very often some of the most talented people may not have had any opportunities to show their ability yet!

 

If you do have previous experience, please bring examples of any work like costume or set sketches, lighting plans or DSM books etc.  This is not a requirement.

Behaviour
The reputation of Encore is extremely high and this is largely due to the high standard of professionalism, individual behaviour and self-discipline of our company members. To maintain and build on this reputation it is important that all members understand what is expected of them and so we have a clearly laid out set of values that members are required to sign up to.

The company has a strict health & safety policy and all our adult members are CRB checked. Bullying, theft and discrimination are not tolerated under any circumstances.
